YH5CX Silicone-housed Externally Gapped Line Surge Arresters

YH5CX line surge arresters are used on a power line to help improve network protection and increase the reliability of the entire transmission system.

                                                               

BENEFIT
Each of our surge arrester is manufactured with the utmost care and undergoes rigorous testing according to accreditation standards.
HY5CX liner surge arresters have a fixed spark gap between two spherical electrodes; the spark gap is placed in series that galvanically isolates the active part of the arrester from the line voltage in normal conditions.  In case of lightning, the spark gap is ignited and the overvoltage is safely discharged to the ground.  In preventing all insulator flashovers by lightning strikes, YH5CX line surge arresters increase network stability as well as the availability of the overhead line.
In normal operating conditions, because the series gap disconnects the MOV blocks from the system voltage, there is no leakage current, thus extending the life of the arrester.
Unique and patented design offers other benefits such as easy installation, repelling birds and snow accumulation, and prevention of slippage.

YH5CX surge arresters have been verified to meet requirements of IEC 60099-8 (IEC Standard for Metal-Oxide Surge Arresters with external series gap for overhead transmission and distribution lines of a.c. systems above 1 kV).
